7 Tax Mistakes U.S. Business Owners Make (And How to Avoid Them)
The 1099-NEC threshold moved to $2,000, plenty of published guidance still says $600, and that is only the fourth item on this list.
Answer three questions to see your exact price. We prepare and file your company's federal return, and its state return where one is due.

Your company's tax return reports its income and expenses to the IRS for the year. The form depends on how your company is taxed, from Form 5472 when a foreign person owns your LLC to Form 1120 for a corporation. Most companies file one every year, even with no income.
Choose by how soon you need it filed.

Usually, yes. A corporation files its return every year, whether or not it earned anything. An LLC owned by one foreign person files Form 5472 for any year with reportable transactions, such as money put in or taken out. A partnership with no income and no deductible expenses does not have to file.
For a calendar year, Forms 1065 and 1120-S are due March 15, Forms 1120 and 5472 are due April 15, and nonprofit returns are due May 15. When a due date falls on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day.
Yes. Most business returns get 6 more months with Form 7004, and nonprofits use Form 8868, except for the 990-N, which cannot be extended. We file the extension for you at no cost. It extends the time to file, not the time to pay, so any tax owed is still due by the original date.
It is the IRS report of money and property moving between a U.S. company and its foreign owner. An LLC with one foreign owner files it with a pro forma Form 1120, by fax or mail, since it cannot be filed online. Missing it can cost $25,000.
Not with the IRS. It is treated as part of its owner, so what it earns and spends goes on Schedule C of the owner's Form 1040, which is what we prepare when you choose U.S. owner. Some states still want a return or a fee from the LLC itself, and your card shows it.
It is the form that shows each owner's share of the company's income, deductions and credits. Partnerships and S Corporations give one to every owner, who reports it on their own tax return. Every owner's K-1 is part of the return we prepare.
It depends on the state and the company type, and the card answers it once you pick a state. You see a row when a return is due every year, a switch when it depends on your income or activity there, or a line when none is needed. An LLC with a single foreign owner and no income owes a state return only in California, Kentucky, Rhode Island and Tennessee.
File it as soon as you can. Each earlier year goes on the same card, at the same price per year. For a late Form 5472, we add a written statement asking for penalty relief, since the IRS can remove or reduce penalties when you acted with reasonable cause and in good faith.
Your bank statements for the year, your sales and expense records, and last year's return if one was filed. For Form 5472, we also ask what money moved between you and the company. We only request what your form needs.
Standard returns are filed in 10 business days or less once your records are complete, and Express returns in 3. Your dashboard shows each step, from records received to the IRS confirmation.
