Why Your Brand Name Needs Trademark Protection Before You Launch
Your LLC filing does not stop a competitor from using your name. Here is what a federal trademark gives you, and why filing before launch wins.

A Certificate of Good Standing is a document from the state that shows whether your company exists and is active. Some states call it a Certificate of Status, a Certificate of Existence or a Certificate of Fact. It is what you show when someone needs to know your company is real.
It depends on where you will use it, in the U.S. or abroad.

Four places where it is asked for or checked.
Some banks ask to see it before they open an account for your company.
Registering in another state often needs a recent certificate from your home state.
Many states let anyone confirm online that a certificate is real.
Offices in many countries accept it only with the state's apostille.
Your part is short. We work with the state.

The Blugency Promise, three commitments with every certificate.
If your company turns out not to be in good standing, we refund you in full and tell you what your state needs.
We order your certificate from the state within 1 business day.
If a mailed certificate goes missing, we order a new one and pay the state fee again.
No single rule sets how long it stays valid. It shows your status on the day it is issued, so whoever asks for it decides how recent it must be. New York, for example, requires one dated within 1 year when a corporation from another state registers there.
We place your order by the next business day, and the state sets the rest of the timing. California says its certificates are available online within minutes, and Florida emails a PDF once payment is processed. When a signed paper original is needed, Wyoming can take up to 15 business days to process it.
No. It shows the status the state has on file that day. A California certificate, for example, can say suspended, dissolved or cancelled. A New York certificate can show that the company's Biennial Statement, the report it files every 2 years, is past due.
It usually happens when a report is not filed, a state tax is not paid or the company has no registered agent to receive its legal mail. Florida dissolves a company that does not file its annual report. Wyoming does the same 60 days after the report is due. In Delaware, paying the yearly tax late is enough to lose good standing.
You can get it back by filing what is missing and paying what is owed, but some states set limits. Wyoming allows reinstatement only within 2 years after it dissolves a company. In Florida, one Reinstatement Application replaces the missed annual reports, but their fees are still due.
About 130 countries are part of the Hague Convention, including Canada and Saudi Arabia. The state that issued your certificate adds the apostille, not the U.S. Department of State. Countries outside the Convention, like the UAE, Egypt and Nigeria, use a different process. We give you a price for that on a call.
It is $49 plus the state fee, and you see your full total before you order. The state fee is your state's own, including its processing fee where it charges one, and choosing your state on the price card shows your exact total. If the state charges more than the card shows, we pay the difference.
The state where your company was formed issues one, and so does each state where it is registered to do business. Place one order for each state you need.
Not until you know it is real. Indiana says businesses are not required to order one. Mississippi warned about letters asking $90.50 for a certificate, and California warns about fake certificates sold on WhatsApp and WeChat. Forward any letter or offer to us, and we will check it for you.
Delaware's short form shows your company's name and status. The long form also lists every document your company has filed, with dates and any name changes. Delaware sells it only to companies formed there, and you can add it on the price card. Each form costs Delaware's own fee, including its processing fee where it charges one, and choosing Delaware on the price card shows your exact total.
