Why Your Brand Name Needs Trademark Protection Before You Launch
Your LLC filing does not stop a competitor from using your name. Here is what a federal trademark gives you, and why filing before launch wins.
Change your company name, address, managers or purpose. We check your state's rules first, then file the change.

A company amendment is a filing that changes a detail in the document that created your company, such as its name or business purpose. Many states call it Articles of Amendment or a Certificate of Amendment. Once the state approves it, the change appears on your company's public record.
Amendment updates your record with the state. Name Change does that too, then helps with the IRS, your bank and your agent.

The filing depends on the change and the state where your company was formed.
Changing your company's legal name usually takes an amendment to its formation document.
Many states update an address through a separate form or the yearly report.
If your state never listed your members, adding one usually needs no filing.
A corporation files an amendment to raise or lower the number of shares it may issue.
Describe the change once. We turn it into the correct filing.

The Blugency Promise, three commitments with every amendment.
If a simpler form does the job, we file that one and refund the state fee you save.
If the state rejects your filing, we correct it and refile right away at no cost, including any new state fee.
If your change needs no state filing at all, we refund your order in full.
Not always. Many updates use a different form. A New York LLC or corporation can change the address where the state sends its legal papers with a Certificate of Change, in place of an amendment, for a lower state fee. We look at what your state accepts before we file anything.
No, not for a name or address change. The IRS says LLCs, corporations and partnerships keep their EIN after a name or location change. An LLC with one member that adds another is taxed as a partnership by default. Ask a tax professional about the EIN before that change.
The IRS has its own steps for a name change, and they depend on how your company is taxed. A corporation or partnership, for example, marks the name change box on this year's tax return. If that return is already filed, it writes to the IRS instead. The IRS confirms the change in writing only when asked, so with Name Change, we ask for that letter.
That is up to the state office. In Wyoming, mailed filings take up to 15 business days, and Delaware says its time varies with how much work it receives. Your dashboard shows where your amendment stands.
It differs widely by state. The fee is your state's own, including its processing fee where it charges one. Choose your state on the price card to see your exact total.
Signing rules differ by state. In California, a corporation's amendment needs board approval and the signatures of both the president and the secretary. We prepare the amendment and tell you exactly whose signature is needed.
Usually with a separate filing, not a full amendment. Texas says an agent change needs no amendment, and Wyoming and New York each have their own form for it. Our Change of Registered Agent service files it for you.
No, as long as your company was formed in a U.S. state. FinCEN exempts these companies under a final rule effective August 14, 2026, so a new name or new owners need no report. Only companies formed under another country's law and registered in a U.S. state still report.
Each state keeps its own record of your company, so each registration usually needs updating too. Texas, for instance, asks companies from other states to amend their Texas registration. We file each one for $79 plus that state's fee.
Be careful. California warns about letters made to look official that charge nearly 10 times the state's own fee. Forward any such letter to us, and we will tell you if it comes from the state.
